Apparently Allen disagrees with you because this has been suggested
time and again. What's really odd is that the math should be simple, because
you dont REALLy need to rotate the image: you can just SLIDE the image. In
my ignorance it seems that an index to the "starting" column of the bitmap
could stand-in for a "rotation"-- all the messy details being hidden from the
user of course. (Help me, ERNIE!!!)

I must have suggested this over four years ago. The difference is
that NOW it is possible to write a plugin to accomplish that. Writing the
plugin architecture is what (I believe) has been keeping Allen busy, probably
in the knowledge that if he gets THAT right, all the other things users are
clamoring for can be implemented very quickly.
Conceptually (hah!), since there IS a parameter for TEXTURE CENTER, it
should be very possible to assign a motion path to an image map.

Where does this envelope get stored? In the OBJECT? What happens when
that object is used in another scene and the envelopes are changed? Could be a
book-keeping nightmare. If the envelopes are stored in the LWS, they aren't
gonna "stick" with the object&surface. How is this addressed in other packages?
Aren't you glad YOU aren't programming Layout? >8^)

Sorry, these are all OLD ideas.....
